The Integrated Local Revenue Administration System (IRAS)
Residents of Fort Portal and Nansana Municipalities are now able to pay ALL the local government taxes such as road cutting fees, market stalls and much more via a PayWay kiosk or retailer.
The Integrated Local Revenue Administration System (IRAS) that covers all the main local government revenue sources and one time payments was developed as part of the City Credit worthiness initiative funded by the World Bank in 6 Municipalities of Entebbe, Fort Portal, Gulu, Lira, Mbale and Nansana under the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development (USMID) programme to enhance local own source revenue collections.
The IRAS system was therefore designed to interface with collection agents such as PayWay in order to improve efficiency in service delivery to the specific Municipalities. As a market leader in the payments aggregation space, PayWay was given mandate to pilot the IRAS system in Fort Portal and Nansana for eventual roll out to the other Municipalities. The IRAS service can be accessed on the PayWay platform under Payments/Taxes/IRAS.
