#AF7 Sustainable Energy in Urban Africa : the role of local government
SACN & Sustainable Energy Africa NPC
Mark Borchers
Context
The promotion of adequate and sustainable energy needs a specific focus for a prosperous future. Across the world and in Africa, local government is recognised as important in promoting sustainable energy. The fast rate of urbanization and the lack of capacity in local governments across Sub-Saharan Africa is of concern. Energy challenges are now better understood, therefore it is now necessary to share lessons and move forward in a coordinated manner.
